Founder Group was formed in 1986 by Peking University.
Peking University, founded in 1898 during the Qing Dynasty, is
China's oldest university and one of its most prestigious and
largest institutions of higher learning. Peking University counts
over 100,000 alumni throughout China and abroad and is the alma
mater to an extensive number of significant Chinese business and
political leaders.
Since its establishment more than 20 years ago as a
modest, university-backed business with RMB 400,000 in start-up
capital, Founder has grown to become one of the largest conglomerates

various industries since its formation. With over 20,000 employees

computer company and 5 publicly-held companies listed in Shenzhen,

In 2006, Fortune magazine, in a survey of China's leading companies,
ranked the Founder Group 16th among the 25 most respected companies
in China. The Boston Consulting Group, in its 2006 ranking of
businesses with the greatest potential in rapidly developing economies,
ranked Founder 44th out of 100 companies globally and 19th among
domestic Chinese companies. In its latest annual report published
in June 2007, China's Ministry of Information Industry ranked
Founder 8th amongst the country's top 100 electronics and information
technology companies based on annual sales.
Founder Group now includes China's second largest
personal computer company, one of China's largest software companies,
and leading businesses in IT solutions and consumer electronics
manufacturing. Founder has also developed significant franchises
in other industries including healthcare, financial services and
real estate. Founder Group includes several pharmaceutical
companies and two Chinese securities brokerage and investment
banking firms, Founder Securities and Sun Securities, both founding
members of the Shanghai Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
